Our Goals

We want your content, your stories! We want hitchhiking stories, about the culture of free-fall traveling, nomadism. We want photo-stories, anecdotes, post-cards, your art-work, comics. Any format and subject can do as long as it is related to what you think should be Random Roads. Also think of country-reports, interviews with other fellow-travelers, people you met and who gave you a lot of kindness, hospitality exchange, lightfoot, and so on.

Quality
The idea of this magazine is to present something professional. The d-i-y look-and-feel of many subcultural 'zines' in the world is great. But why do something ad-hoc, stencil based if we can also make it look 'professional', a zine made with high standards and quality of written word, layout and photographs?

Workflow
Is it possible to make a magazine that is organised in a horizontal way, while still keeping high standards? Of course we can. For that reason we set up this website and organised it in a transparant way, where everyone who wants, can help in one way or the other, from the first to the final steps.

Help out
Random Roads need writers, artists and photographers to publish their work. The magazine also need experienced editors who are able to, if needed, change style and grammar into good English and into a story which is well readable and exciting. Lastly, Random Roads also need designers.

Our logic
On the website you can publish any story. This story comes then in the list of submissions. We want you to select your best work! You give permission that an editor may edit your work if needed (shorten it, change the structure, correct style and grammar). And when it gets edited by an editor, it comes in next queue, and will make its way to the printed edition. These are the articles you will find on the front-page for example.

Take initiative!
Help publish the magazine, create an account and apply for a role of proof-reader or editor, or contact us directly for any questions. But you can also head over to the forum for public discussions or questions.
